Compliance & consent
Voxilo handles the legal side of customer communication so you don't have to think about it. AI disclosure, recording consent, TCPA opt-in, do-not-call list checks, state-by-state rules — all built in. The default is compliant; you don't configure it.
Every consent decision Voxilo makes is recorded with timestamps, exact wording read to the caller, and the caller's response. If a complaint is ever filed, you have courtroom-grade evidence of every consent in your account, exportable as a signed package. We've designed for the worst-case legal scenario from day one — your records hold up.
What Voxilo checks before every call
Before the voice agent engages, Voxilo runs a 10-step compliance check:
- State identification — area code maps to state + timezone (359 area codes seeded)
- Quiet hours — state-specific rules; no outbound contact between 9 PM and 8 AM local time
- Sunday and holiday restrictions — some states restrict Sunday contact
- Federal DNC — Federal Do-Not-Call list check
- State DNC — additional state DNC list where applicable
- Consent level — is consent in place for this contact type?
- AI disclosure — has the AI disclosure been delivered?
- Rate limits — per-hour and per-day contact limits by state
- Opt-out list — any STOP or opt-out recorded for this caller?
- Spend cap — your configured monthly spending limit
If any check fails, contact is blocked. Voxilo fails closed — when in doubt, it holds the message rather than risk a violation.
Two-party recording consent
Recording rules vary by state. Voxilo knows which states require two-party consent (both parties must agree before recording starts). In those states, Voxilo announces the recording at the start of every call and records the caller's response. If the caller declines recording, the recording stops — the call continues and the briefing notes the decision.
The list of two-party consent states is maintained in Voxilo's compliance engine and updated when state law changes.
AI disclosure
Federal law and several state laws require callers to be told they're speaking to an AI. Voxilo reads the disclosure at the start of every call, before any other conversation begins. You can preview and adjust the exact wording within legal bounds in your Settings (under Compliance).
Opt-out handling
If a caller says "stop," "unsubscribe," "remove me," or any equivalent phrase, Voxilo honors it immediately. The opt-out is recorded as an irrevocable event — it cannot be undone except by the caller explicitly opting back in. Subsequent contacts to that number are blocked until opt-in is re-established.
The audit trail
Every compliance decision — checks run, results, wording delivered, caller response — is logged in a structured audit record with full timestamps. If you ever need to produce evidence for a complaint or legal inquiry, Voxilo can export a signed compliance package covering any phone number and date range.
